Dr Lydiah Wangui Ngigi is a family physician at Tenwek Hospital at Kabarak University.
She serves as Associate Faculty in the School of Medicine and Health Sciences at Kabarak University, where she is involved in education and mentorship.
Beyond her hospital work, Dr Ngigi also co-founded Nitibu Network Africa, a grassroots initiative that supports early-career female doctors and organises free outreach clinics for underserved communities.
Through this platform, she has helped expand access to essential healthcare while fostering a sense of solidarity among women in medicine.
Ngugi was named one of the recipients of the 2025 Atai Omoruto Scholarship Award to celebrate her outstanding contributions to clinical care, mentorship, and community service.
Through this award, she will receive funding to attend the World Organization of Family Doctors (WONCA) World Conference in Lisbon, where she will join other global leaders in family medicine to share insights and strengthen networks that drive primary healthcare forward.
